For whom?
Physical activity counselling is intended for students and staff members at the University of Eastern Finland and University of Savonia University of Applied Sciences who
- feel that they need tips and support in finding a physical lifestyle
- do not exercise enough for their health and well-being
- need to change their lifestyle due to their health condition
- need solutions on how to make exercise a regular part of everyday life and how to get enough daily exercise to maintain their health
The service is free for users, but it is not free of charge. People seeking physical activity counselling must be motivated and willing to change their physical activity behavior and be ready to commit to the process.
What is physical activity counselling? You decide, a physical activity counsellor helps
Physical activity counselling is a low-threshold, easy-to-adopt, free, one-to-one guidance and support that is tailored to your life situation, helping you to find your own preferred way of moving and get more activity in your everyday life. You set your goals, the physical activity counsellor helps and supports you along your way.
Physical activity counselling includes a maximum of five guided sessions with a physical activity counsellor, face-to-face or remotely, according to your preference. Some of the meetings (1–2 times) can be held with the Wellness Center’s physiotherapy students. These meetings focus on a survey of the musculoskeletal system, which includes an assessment of the body’s muscle balance and mobility, feedback on these, and guidance on suitable home exercises. The contents of the physical activity counseling meetings are planned together and implemented according to your needs and goals. At the first meeting, your situation is discussed comprehensively, your desired goals are set, and a plan is drawn up to achieve them.
