Get Up

What Is Get Up?

In autumn 2016, SYKETTÄ started the Get Up project. The objective of Get Up is to decrease sitting and increase physical activity on Joensuu campuses. We strive to improve study and work capabilities and improve on-campus practices and ethos. Our goal is an active and healthy university community. Get Up project originally started from the cooperation of Turku University of Applied Sciences and FSHS.

Get Up Ambassadors

Get Up ambassadors spread the message of exercise and well-being to fellow university students in Joensuu. The Get Up ambassadors are trained by SYKETTÄ at the start of the academic year in autumn, and the ambassadors commit to their tasks until the end of April.

Get Up ambassadors have the following tasks:

– Instructing active breaks at lectures and staff meetings
– Influencing university practices and ethos
– Participating in events related to decreasing excessive sitting

At the start of each academic year, SYKETTÄ seeks new Get Up ambassadors. If you want to change university lectures more physically active as a Get Up ambassador, send an email to liikuntasuunnittelija@pokapoka.fi.

How Can I Order a Get Up Ambassador to a Lecture or Meeting?

If you wish to order a Get Up instructed active break to your lecture or staff meeting, contact SYKETTÄ sports services by email. SYKETTÄ will arrange for a Get Up ambassador to instruct the active break. Get Up ambassadors may also contact lecturers themselves and offer instructed active breaks. Active breaks instructed by Get Up ambassadors are free. If you wish to order an active break instructed by a Get Up ambassador, send an email to liikuntasuunnittelija@pokapoka.fi.
