SYKETTÄ gyms

SYKETTÄ has two gyms in university campus area which are found in Studentia and Snellmania. You can access these gyms with either of the valid stickers: the group class package or the ball sports package.
During the free sports week 31.8.-13.9.2020 you have a free access to Studentia and Snellmania gyms!
Studentia Gym
Studentia is located at the University of Eastern Finland’s Savilahti campus (Yliopistonranta 3, the same building with ISYY office Lukema ) and offers large sports hall and a gym for use. You need a valid SYKETTÄ-sticker to enter the Studentia building. There are caretakers at the door asking for stickers. You don’t need any extra key to enter. The gym is open from Monday to Friday during 7-19.
The Studentia gym is equipped with SYGNUM gym equipment. There is also dumbbells and some other small sport equipment. There are no free weights, they can be found from Snellmania gym! There is a smaller room next to the gym that includes a crosstrainer, exercise bicycle,mats and exercise ball. This room is excellent for warming up and cooling down.
Snellmania Gym
Snellmania Gym is situated in Savilahti, UEF campus, in Snellmania-building, 2nd floor. The address is Yliopistonranta 1. In August the gym is open from Monday to Friday 7-16.15. Starting from 1.9. the opening hours are Mon-Fri 7-19 and on Saturdays 10-14. Snellmania gym, tatami and mirror hall is not in use when there is instructed classes in the gym/tatami. Snellmania gym is excellent for free weight training. The gym equipment includes dumbbells and kettlebells, barbells and weightplates, squat rack and TRX-band and many more basic gym equipment. There is also a so called mirror hall just before the gym and from there you can find a multipurpose equipment and a dreadmill. You can also use the tatami room.
Additional service: City of Kuopio gym card for Rajala and Kotkankallio
If you wish, you can get a very cheap membership card for the city of Kuopio’s gyms Rajala and Kotkankallio, which are civil defense shelters used for sport. With that membership card you can also use Studentia gym on evenings and weekends.
The whole year membership card for SYKETTÄ-users: adults 92,10 € / students 45,70 €
(Without the SYKETTÄ sticker the price is 112,10 €/65,70 €)
Half a year membership card for SYKETTÄ-user: adults 42,90 €/ students 19,70 €
( Without the SYKETTÄ sticker the price is 62,90 €/39,70 €)
There are 1500 cards available in the autumn semester. The Kuopio gym card is bought directly from the city of Kuopio (see the selling points in City of Kuopio website) and they are available starting from 1.8.2020.
When buying the card, you must have a valid SYKETTÄ sticker (autumn 2020 or year 2020-2021) and ID card. The starting fee for the card is 7,90 €.
